South African motorists could see a massive petrol price drop in January, according to the Automobile Association.
The AA has predicted that, based on the unaudited mid-December fuel price data released by the Central Energy Fund, the price of petrol may drop by between 105 cents and 107 cents on the first Wednesday of 2015.
The drop would be one of the biggest on record.
The AA also predicted that the price of diesel would drop by 85c/litre and the price of illuminating paraffin by 90c/litre.
According to Times Live, the AA said that it was difficult to predict the likely month-end figure as the international petroleum prices continued to drop while the rand showed a weakening trend against the US dollar.
