Remain boss accepted 'crony' honour from David Cameron so he could take wife to Buckingham Palace .


Britain Stronger in Europe director Will Straw was handed a CBE in David Cameron’s resignation honours over the summer.


A leading EU Remain campaigner accepted a gong so he could take his wife to Buckingham Palace, he has revealed.

Britain Stronger in Europe director Will Straw was handed a CBE in David Cameron ’s resignation honours over the summer.

The gongs were nicknamed Mr Cameron's 'crony honours' after they went overwhelmingly to his aides, allies, staff and Remain campaigners.
 
Grilled about the accolade by MPs yesterday, Mr Straw said: “I didn’t ask for the award.
