Ellen Tshabalala has quit her post as chairperson of the South African Broadcasting Corporation board, the presidency announced on Wednesday.
"The President thanks Ms Tshabalala for her contribution to the public broadcaster and wishes her all the best in her future endeavours," the presidency said in a statement.
Tshabalala has also resigned from the SABC board.
The now former-SABC board chairperson was under the spotlight for lying about her qualifications when she applied for the job as chairperson.
A Parliamentary enquiry into Tshabalala's qualifications found that she did not have the qualifications that she had claimed and she was subsequently found guilty of two counts of misconduct last Wednesday by the Parliamentary committee.
Unisa told the committee last week that while Tshabalala had registered for her B Comm degree in 1988 and 1996, she had not obtained the degree. Tshabalala also registered for a diploma in labour relations in 1995 but failed to obtain the pass mark to earn the diploma. She was not allowed to redo the course.
Following the committee's decision, Tshabalala claimed that the committee had decided her fate long before formalising the decision. She also rubbished Unisa's testimony saying that they had had problems with their records and computers and could not be relied upon. She also claimed that she had tried to get copies of her qualifications but had been unable to do so because of Unisa's computer problems.
