There was an attempted robbery at the Pick N Pay in Maponya Mall, Soweto, on Wednesday morning, confirmed Gauteng police.
According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela, seven suspects entered the supermarket earlier today.
It’s understood the robbers engaged with the mall’s security guards and they fled the scene without taking anything.
Eyewitness News reported the suspects opened fire randomly, but no one was injured.
No arrests have yet been made.
“A case of business robbery has been opened and police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward,” said Makhubela.
