Russia ridicules Britain's 'Alice in Wonderland fairy tale' Salisbury attack probe as US diplomats are booted out of Moscow.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov mocked the UK as the Kremlin drags the row over the poisoning of ex-spy Sergei Skripal to the UN Security Council.

Russia has ridiculed Britain's probe into the Salisbury nerve agent attack by branding it a "fairy tale" from children's fantasy book Alice in Wonderland.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov mocked the UK as US diplomats were pictured leaving their Moscow embassy in retaliation for the largest ever mass expulsion of Russian envoys.

The diplomats and their families, with pets in tow, were pictured boarding coaches at their compound this morning before setting off for the airport.
