Ex-UConn QB reportedly lost job as Trump aide because of gambling habit.

Former UConn QB Johnny McEntee was escorted from the White House on Monday over issues with his background check. 

At the time, it was reported McEntee was being investigated for potential financial crimes. According to the Washington Post, the issue was with McEntee’s proclivity to gamble large sums of money, not because he was involved in a financial crime ring.

 A background investigation found that McEntee bet tens of thousands of dollars at a time, making him unsuitable for a sensitive position close to the president, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. There was no indication his gambling was illegal, but there was concern that the 27-year-old could be vulnerable to outside influence, the person said.

McEntee had served as Trump’s personal assistant throughout the president’s time in charge and joined the Trump campaign in 2015. According to a Post story, McEntee was even the one responsible for changing the clocks in the White House following the change to Daylight Saving Time on Sunday.
